Different financial aid opportunities are available to help accepted students pay for their ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College education.
The various financial aid opportunities available include scholarships and grants, federal and private loans, campus jobs, and Federal Student Aid. Students are considered for ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College scholarships once they submit their application and art portfolio. Federal Student Aid and federal loans are considered once families complete the FAFSA online.
Applying for Federal Student Aid
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Many families who fail to submit a FAFSA mistakenly think they do not qualify for aid and prevent themselves from possibly receiving additional financial aid. There are a few sources of aid such as the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan and the Federal Parent PLUS Loan that are available regardless of need.
Submitting the is free, and your information is confidential. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College requires a two-step process for initiating the financial aid request for all programs administered by the Office of Financial Aid.

- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the U.S. Department of Education.

This is not an automatic process and can take a few days.
Financial Aid Notification Letters are mailed or emailed as soon as the financial aid review process has been completed. Financial Aid Office typically starts communications to students about two weeks after the acceptance letter is sent, then students can continue to View your by logging into NetPartner.

Financial aid applications may be selected by the Department of Education for a process called verification. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College of Art and Design is pleased to announce we have established a partnership with Inceptia to expedite the federal verification process for ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College of Art and Design. Verification Gateway (VG) from is an online portal to guide students and parents through verification.
If your FAFSA application is selected for verification by the U.S Department of Education, you will receive an email from VGCS@inceptia.org, or postcard from Inceptia, containing ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College of Art and Design’s unique website link to start the verification process.
We encourage you to begin the verification process within seven days of receiving notification from Verification Gateway to ensure you receive your financial aid in time for payments. Failure to complete the verification process could result in the delay or denial of your financial aid.

Special Circumstance/Professional Judgment
The U.S. Department of Education uses a formula to determine your Student Aid Index based on tax data from two years ago, which you provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The SAI determines your eligibility for need based funding (Federal grants, Federal subsidized loans, and Federal Work Study).
Professional judgment is to be exercised in situations which a significant impact on the family’s ability to contribute as reflected on the FAFSA has occurred. Main categories of special circumstances are:
- Changes in Financial Circumstances Reflecting Loss of Income:
- Change in employment status which results in loss of income or assets;
- Separation/Divorce, Alimony, Child Support
- One-time Payment received
- Medical issues not covered by insurance that exceeds 11% of the Family’s adjusted gross income
- Severe disability of the student or member of the student’s household
- Change in housing status (homelessness)
- Death of Parent or Spouse
- To be filed only if initial FAFSA data included deceased parent or spouse in income or household
- Parental/Sibling College Enrollment
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (or equivalent clock hours) per term to be considered.
- Increase in Student’s Cost of Attendance Incurred While Attending the College:
- Child or dependent care expenses
- Changes in Family Dynamics that Justify Applying as an Independent Student (Dependency Override):
- Abandonment by parents
- An Abusive family environment that threatens the student’s health of safety
- In accordance to 24-25 HEA 479A, extenuating family circumstances will be reviewed such as;
- Foreign earned income exclusion
- If you or your parent earned income in a foreign nation, you must submit the tax information issued by the tax authority in that country. Please convert the income into US Dollars prior to submission.

If you feel your family’s situation fall within one or more of the areas above please or email finaid@ringling.edu for a meeting to discuss the options. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College of Art and Design has partnered with Inceptia to gather the required documents for the Office of Financial Aid to make our Professional Judgement.
Processing timeline could be up to two weeks. To avoid processing delays, please carefully review the information provided on the form and ensure that adequate and appropriate documentation is provided for each application type.
Upon review, the student and or parent will be contacted via email advising that their appeal has been received and reviewed. Please note that approved special circumstances do not guarantee that any additional aid will be awarded.
